Temple’s cardiac electrophysiology team includes specialists who regularly treat PVCs. Our doctors will make a thorough diagnosis of your condition and recommend the best treatment for you.
Treatment options include:
- Eliminating triggers — Some people can reduce PVCs by identifying and avoiding triggers, like cutting out caffeine or reducing stress.
- Medication — Blood pressure medications including beta blockers and calcium channel blockers can help prevent occasional PVCs. For frequent or more serious PVCs, doctors might prescribe a type of medication that helps regulate heart rhythm.
- Cardiac ablation — A thin tube called a catheter can be inserted into an artery and threaded through to your heart. Electrodes on the tip of the catheter will be used to create tiny scars that stop electrical signals in areas where they should not occur. This can restore a normal heartbeat permanently.
