If a patient is diagnosed with certain heart disorders, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, there’s a chance that family members may also have or develop the condition. Many institutions use family history to assess family members’ risk for cardiomyopathy, but we combine that history with targeted genetic testing for more precision, identifying specific individuals who are likely to be at risk due to genetic mutations. Our Temple Inherited Cardiomyopathy Program (TICP) provides counseling about genetic risks, conducts genetic testing, and then connects those at risk to diagnostics, counseling, and, if necessary, additional treatment for cardiomyopathy. As a specialist center, we have experienced cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and cutting-edge technology available to provide a full spectrum of care for all inherited myopathies, including:
- Inherited dilated cardiomyopathy
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy
- Left-ventricular non-compaction
- Restrictive cardiomyopathy
- Cardiac amyloid disease
